Red Cross; Laughlin Constable

Laughlin Constable ad agency has been working with the Red Cross of Southeastern Wisconsin for several years now. Unlike traditional for-profit clients who have specific sales goals and shareholder objectives, we were asked to build awareness that the Red Cross is here to help during times of crisis.  Whether it’s damage due to fire, storms or flooding, they can assist with housing, clothing and an array of humanitarian services. And they can do so for no cost whatsoever.  But in order to do these things, they need donations.  This ad is a reminder that donations and volunteers make it all happen.

One Milwaukee, Gun Violence; BVK

“Peace Sign”

Gun violence is a problem that affects far more than just shooter and victim. By creating a climate of fear, it destroys the fabric of neighborhoods, impacts local businesses and casts a negative light on Milwaukee’s reputation as a great place to live. This campaign emphasizes that we all have a stake in reducing gun violence—and that doing so will take a coordinated, ongoing effort by local citizens, business owners and government officials. Readers are encouraged to visit a website to get involved in proven programs and initiatives that are already making a difference.

Make-A-Wish Foundation; Zizzo Group

Our agency has a long-standing relationship with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin and has been designing their Wish-Kid calendar for several years. When we decided to partner with them on this project, we wanted to clear up the misconception that MAW is only for terminally ill children. In fact, it’s for any child with a life-threatening medical condition. To help redirect people’s thinking, our ad focuses on the healing, or prescriptive, aspect of a wish. Our model is an actual Wish Kid who is still feeling the positive effects of being a Princess For a Day back in 2008.

Childhood Obesity; Serve

Childhood obesity is a growing problem nationally, as well as in Milwaukee.  If we don't get parents to begin to think differently about their kids' poor eating habits and lack of excercise, the health problems of our children will grow.  We think the best way to get their attention is to show them the real face of obesity.  This ad is designed to be a wake-up call to parents.

ALS Association of Wisconsin; Jigsaw

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is an illness in which a diagnosis is a death sentence.  There is no cure. We have been working with the ALS Association of Wisconsin for two years, building awareness and educating people on the impact this deadly disease has had on many lives.  This year's campaign used it's popular name as a springboard for reminding people that Lou Gehrig is not the only person who contracted ALS.  We incorporated a minisite, notjustlou.org to inform and drive people to a site that allows them to register for the yearly Walk To Defeat ALS.

Wildlife in Need Center; Noggin

The wood duck squawking in my front yard was being attacked by a Red-tailed Hawk.  I stumbled upon the scene as the hawk, holding the duck by its neck, struggled to get airborne.  An hour later, the hawk long gone, a calm voice from the Wildlife in Need Center was walking me through steps to try to save this beautiful bird that otherwise would have been pecked to death by crows.  He didn't make it. But, his ending turned into the beginning of an effort to bring awareness to an organization worthy of your support.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Z2

Every four minutes one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer.  And every ten minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. In fact, Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.  But thanks to research and support of organizations like the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, the likelihood of dying from most types of these cancers decreased from 1996 to 2005. Six years ago when Z2 opened its doors, the agency wrote and produced This Time Tomorrow, a song and music video whose sales supported LLS.  Today, Z2 is proud to partner with LLS again donating the design/writing of a print ad, banner ad and microsite.

Guitars for Vets; Bader-Rutter

Everyday, normal citizens reap the benefits that the military provides by fighting for our freedom. And it’s why we believe Guitars for Vets is such a good cause. Because despite being some of the toughest people you’ll meet, it’s the real heroes of the country that need some help. By working for Guitars for Vets, we’re hoping to do just that. G4V provides both a free guitar and lessons for fellow veterans suffering from physical injury and one of the most crippling ailments that affects our soldiers — post-traumatic stress disorder. As a type of alternative medicine, Guitars for Vets puts the healing power of music in the hands of those who need it most.
